The Cushing Association is a group of men and women dedicated to keeping the memory and the spirit of all past and present USS Cushings alive. We consider all Cushing crewmen, past and present, and their spouses as members of the Association. The current active membership includes crewmen from the DD-55, DD-376, DD-797, and DD-985. The sole surviving member of the DD-55 crew is a member of the Association. You can read Paul Frisco's article about Mr. Dorr here. On this page, you will find the list of Association Officers, and the Guest Book. Please leave a message for us.There have been five ships in the US Navy named for Commander Willam Barker Cushing. The first ship was the Navy's first torpedo boat. The other four have all been destroyers. The second, third, and fourth ships were units of the O'Brien class, the Mahan class, and the Fletcher class, respectively. The fifth and current ship is a unit of the Spruance class.
We consider everyone who has ever served on one of the Cushings a member of the Association. You only have to fill out the Membership form, and you're in. In order to receive the Newsletter and reunion info, an Annual Membership Due of $10 is required. This offsets the cost of the mailings and printing. Please send your check to:
